Abstract
588,825. Secret transmission. PATELHOLD PATENTVERWERTUNGS- & ELEKTRO-HOLDING AKT.-GES. May 17, 1944, No. 9468. Convention date, June 23, 1943. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (iv)] In a secret transmission system of a kind involving the separation of the original speech into sub-bands, each of such bands is no wider than the mean fundamental frequency of vowel sounds in speech, i.e. from 100 to 200 cycles, and so includes not more than one harmonic of such fundamental. The invention may be applied to the otherwise known scrambling arrangements in which the sub-bands are transposed with or without inversion in accordance with a constantly-changing plan. The initial separation may be into broader bands which undergo an appropriate frequency shift and are then further subdivided. In another system, the respective bands are delayed to different extents. Various combinations of expedients are referred to. In addition, the energy or amplitude of the various bands may be constantly varied. Specifications 552,414 and 570,488 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also a system, Fig. 4 (Cancelled), not shown, in which the sub-bands are continuously varied in width. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
