Abstract

588,122. Wave guides. BACON, G. E. Jan. 30, 1945, No. 2395. [Class 40 (v)] An arrangement for providing a pivotal connection between two wave guides comprises a wave guide section 10 formed with side flanges 11 which serve to support pivot bearings 16 carried by side flanges 19 on a second wave guide section 15. Arcuate flanges 17 on section 10 closely surround flanges 18 on section 15, the overlap being made a quarter wavelength to reduce leakage. The joint is made weatherproof by means of bellows 21 attached by clips 22 to circular flanges 20. The device may be fitted with a bracket having a hole or dowel pin aligned with the axis 16 to facilitate correct mounting relative to a piece of radar apparatus with which the device is to be used (Fig. 3, not shown). The arrangement may be used with a flexible wave guide as described in Specification 575,228.
