Abstract
587,058. Electric cooking apparatus. DELASAIRE, J. Nov. 24, 1944, No. 23450. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Groups VI and XXXVII] A vessel for cooking eggs or the like in which the period of heating is controlled by a timing device, has an electric heating element 7 fitted in a water-tight division 3. A synchronous motor 9 drives a shaft 11 carrying a cam 20 which operates to open a mercury switch 14 in circuit with the heating element and motor. The switch is closed manually by rotating the cam by means of a knob 12 to a position determined by an adjustable timing disc 13. Rotation of the cam causes a cam follower 19 to ride over a stepped portion 20a of the cam surface lifting arm 15 and tilting the mercury switch to its closed position. The cam is rotated in the reverse direction by the motor until the stepped portion of the cam is reached and the mercury switch opens the circuit to the motor and heating element.
