Abstract

586,845. Compound transparent sheets. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. March 20, 1944, No. 5202. Convention date, Feb. 19, 1943. Drawings to Specification. [Class 140] [Also in Group XX] The portions of complex optical elements made of transparent organic plastic material, such as compound prisms and achromatic lenses and prisms, are secured together by applying to the adjacent faces an adhesive comprising a relatively high-melting polyvinyl compound and then drying the adhesive while maintaining the elements pressed together. One of the adjacent faces may have a semi-transparent metallic reflecting coating. The adhesive may comprise polyvinyl acetals, polyvinyl acetate or a polyvinyl acetal-acetate mixture. The two portions of the elements may be of different materials, e.g., one may be of polycyclohexyl methacrylate and the other of polystyrene.
