Abstract
582,312. Photo-electric prevention of dust explosions. FINCH, G. I. Sept. 19, 1944, No. 17872. [Class 40 (iii)] [Also in Group XXI] To prevent tho propagation of dust explosions, the ducts 2, 4 of a plant each have associated therewith an explosive charge 11 which breaks the duct and/or scatters inert dust 10 such as calcium fluoride or vapour. The operation of the charge 11 is controlled by a photo-electric cell in a side chamber 6 or by heat-sensitive means in the path of the explosion-flame. A blast-proof wall may be provided adjacent the charge-carrying portion of the duct.
