[Class 90] In apparatus for generating by the combustion of a self-combustible oxygen-cooling composition ignited in a finned combustion chamber by electric resistance heating, the evolved oxygen is cooled by passing through an enlarged void zone and then filtered by passage through a sintered glass or porous ceramic filter and scrubbed by a column of water resting on said filter, in each of two successive stages.
