[Class 138 (ii)] Pressure regulating mechanism for the upper roller 5 of a wringer comprises a screw-threaded hand shaft 18 operating, through pairs of toggle links 16, 17 and 16a, 17a, on the half bearings 6 of the roller spindle, the bearings 6 being free to slide between side frame members 4. The shaft 18 has left- and right-hand screw-threaded engagement at either end with nuts 23, 23a, which are held against rotation, and operate through compression springs 27, 27a, and thimbles 28, 28a, upon cylindrical members 21, 21a embraced by the half-cylindrical inner ends of the toggle links. The outer ends of the upper links 16, 16a similarly engage fixed cylindrical abutments 19, 19a mounted between the frames, whilst the outer ends of .the lower links 17, 17a embrace cylindrical abutments 20, 20a carried by a cross-bar 30 resting on the tops of the roller bearings 6. The bearings 6 are retained between the frames 4 by plates 31 having ears 34 engaging inside the frames. The driving handle 9 can be turned from the operative to the out-of-use position shown by slackening a hand nut 9a and withdrawing its inner end 12 from a boss 10 (see Fig. 5); driving dogs 14 on a flange 13 splined to the handle engage slots 15 in the boss 10 in the two positions of the handle.
