Abstract
A film is made from transparent lacquer, e.g. nitrocellulose lacquer, mixed with metal powder, this film is laid on the surface of the article in the mould whilst the article is hot, soft and tacky, and the film and article are pressed together. In a modified method, the film is built up on a piece of gummed paper, which is then laid on the article in the mould with the film next to the article, the whole being pressed together and the paper being subsequently removed by moistening the paper to dissolve the gum.
