Abstract

Solid rubber-like copolymers of butadiene and styrene are masticated to a smooth blend with a finely-divided hydrophillic adhesive protein, e.g. casein, fish or animal glue, albumen, gelatine, h moglobin, dried blood &c., diluted with successive increments of water, while continuing mechanical working, to cause phase inversion yielding polymer-in-water dispersions useful as adhesives and for rubber-textile bonding. Soaps or soap ingredients, including zinc oxide and boric acid, may be optionally incorporated in the blend. Examples are given.
