Abstract

575,648. Linear - dimension gauges. C. & G. GAUGES, Ltd., GRAVES, A., and CLARK, H. March 4, 1944, No. 4057. [Class 106 (ii)] A spline or internally-slotted ring gauge comprises two or more segments a, a<1> whose inner peripheries are ground to fine limits to constitute the gauging means, the outer peripheries having a driving fit in a ring-like holder b. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, two semicircular segments a, a<1> are coupled by means of keys c and then driven into a ring or holder b. To facilitate grinding before assembly, the segments are aligned in end abutment and the grinding performed as a single operation. In another embodiment, Fig. 4, shoulders d<2> are formed upon the segments d and the latter are secured in the holder b by annular rings e or e<1>.
