Abstract
572,493. Heat insulation. VERSIL, Ltd., and BINNS, C. E. Jan. 31, 1944, No. 1755. [Class 64 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] A duct, conduit, tank or the like of rectangular cross section has its side walls 1 extended beyond the corners at 3 to form flanges which are drilled to receive the ends of rods 4 for retaining heat insulation 5 in position. On the other two sides, the insulation is retained by wire netting 9 which is pressed over the ends of rods 4 and held by nuts 8. Netting may also cover the top and bottom insulation, and the whole may be covered by cement 12. In place of the retaining rods, lacing wires may be used. In a modification, all the walls may have intermittent extensions to provide alternate flanges at right angles to each another, or the wall extension may be bent at an angle of 45‹ so that rods on two adjacent sides can be accommodated. In another modification, instead of extending the rods 4 to support netting 9, channels may be secured to the wall extensions, and their outer flanges may support metal or other sheets enclosing the heat insulation.
