568,836. Inductance and capacitance measurements. WESSELY, K. Oct. 27, 1943, No. 17701. [Class 37] Apparatus for the measurement of inductances and capacitances comprises an oscillator A supplying oscillations of fixed frequency to a circuit comprising a standard inductance D which is tuned to resonance by a variable condenser C when this is at its maximum value, resonance being indicated by a valve voltmeter B. A condenser whose capacitance is to be measured is connected to terminals G, E so that it is in parallel with the condenser C. The value of this is then reduced by an amount equal to the capacitance under test in order to restore resonance, the amount of the reduction being indicated on a scale. An inductance of a value higher than the inductance D is measured by connecting it between the terminals G, E and disconnecting the inductance D by opening a switch F. The circuit is again tuned to resonance and the value of the inductance is indicated on a second scale on the condenser C. An inductance smaller than the standard inductance D is measured by connecting it in series with the inductance D across terminals H, E with the switch F open and adjusting the circuit to resonance. The unknown inductance is then the difference between the measured value and the inductance D and is indicated on a third scale on the condenser C.
