Abstract
567,476. Electric cables and conduits. EBEL, C., and BURR, W. F. Sept. 10, 1943, No. 14879. [Class 36] In a surface-wiring system in which the cables have a continuously-earthed metallic sheath, the cables are laid in grooves or interstices of wall, pillar or ceiling-panel surfaces to form beadings which constitute or fit in with the decorations of the room. Each cable 22, Fig. 4, consists of copper sheathing 24 with compressed mineral powder insulation such as magnesia, and the sheath may be circular, square or shaped as a moulding. The cables are inserted in grooves 23 in the moulding 14 and simulate the fluting 15, the grooves being filled beyond the cables by dummy fillings, Fig. 5. Cable bends are housed in curved grooves covered by plaques &c. in keeping with the room decoration, and switches and junction boxes are similarly decorated. With ceilings, the cables are retained by copper clips or square cables 52, Fig. 10, may be sunk into a rabbet 50 in the ceiling point 47 which also has rabbets 48 for the ceiling panels 49. In a modification, Fig. 9, a moulding 38 has a semicircular groove 40 for a circular cable 39, whilst the re-entrant 41 is occupied by a cable 42 having a sheath 43 with flat sides 44, 45 and an ogee-shaped face 46.
