[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [Also in Groups X and XXXIII] To facilitate the cutting of the edges of frames and plates, for use in ship building and other constructional work, to a predetermined curvature, the required curve L, Fig. 26, is drawn on the floor and a template of corresponding shape is formed by bending a lead or other soft rod 82 by a device comprising a plate 85 having a tracer 87 and a pair of rollers 86. By running the rollers along the edge of the rod 82 while keeping the tracer moving on the curve L, the rod is bent to the shape of the curve as shown. By substituting a burner tool for the tracer, a plate placed beneath it may be cut to the required shape by running the device round the edge of the template. The template is shown mounted on a single board, but two such boards may be hinged together to be closed on the template, turned over and opened again with the other board beneath the template to enable it to be used to cut a curve of opposite hand.
