Abstract

564,721. Electrically heating buildings. BRITISH INSULATED CABLES, Ltd., MANN, W. N., and LAWRENSON, E. June 7, 1943, No. 9151. [Class 39 (iii)] In the heating of buildings by electric heating elements embedded in the walls, ceilings, or floors, the element 1 is supported by metal clips 3 arranged on cross members 4 attached to members 18 at right angles, the members 4, 18 comprising a framework. The element 1 is arranged in parallel rims 5 connected by loops 6. An insulating backboard 19 may be bolted to the framework. The heating element may be embedded in plaster 23 either in constructing the heating panel, or in situ on a wall. A metal cover-plate 24 may be added to provide a surface finish and protection. Alternatively, the straight portions of the heating element may be protected by a metal strip 25, Fig. 5, which is sprung into notches in the cross member 12, and plates may cover the loops 6 of the heating element. The element 1 may be of the kind described in Specification 543,272.
