Abstract
563,147. Reinforced concrete beams. DUNZ, C. E. Feb. 1, 1943, No. 1653. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] A concrete beam 1 is provided with pretensioned reinforcements in the form of flat metal sheets 6 which do not reach the ends 10, 11, and may or may not extend the full depth of the beam, or may be placed only in the lower half of the beam. In Fig. 6, the sheets 16, 20 may be arranged at right angles so that the beam may be used with 12 or 18 as the neutral axis. Separate sheets may be arranged in the upper and lower halves of the beam, and they may be inclined. The sheets may be apertured so that the concrete extends through them.
