Abstract
560,816. Hinges. INJECTA, AKT.- GES. July 3, 1942, No. 9237. Convention date, July 4, 1941. [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXII] A spherical member 4 attached to a bicycle is connected to a trailer by two pivotally interconnected portions 1 and 3, the portion 3 being shaped to fit over the spherical member 4 and to be held down upon it by the-effect of the tension P exerted by the member 4 upon the portion 3, the line M, N of the effective force passing through the sphere centre M and the point of contact O between portion 3 and the sphere so that the' line M, N is in the space between the portion 3 and the line connecting the point of contact O with the centre of the bolt 2. A leaf or helical spring may be provided to hold portion 3. down when member 4 does not exert tension. In a modification shown in Fig. 5 a pivoted locking-lever 10 is provided in a central slit of the pivoted portion 3, being held in the locking position as shown by a surface 14 engaging a stop 16 of the piece 1 to which portion 3 is pivoted at 2. Release is effected by pushing front surface 19 to depress the rear end of the lever 10 and move the lever backwards. Modified forms suitable for manufacture by die-casting and with handles cast on to the lever-carrying part or on to the drawbar are also described.
