Abstract
560,388. Dressing fish. AKTIEBOLAGET G. AREHNS MEKANISKA VERKSTAD. Sept. 30, 1942, No. 13751. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1941. [Class 28 (ii)] In a machine for decapitating and gutting fish, the fish A placed on a table 1 is moved by a conveyer 2 and gripped by the tail by pinchers 5 carried on a conveyer 6, and pulled towards spring jaws 8 set at an angle to the general plane of the table 1 and parallel with spaced rotary cutters 3 for severing the head. The ends of the jaws 8 enter behind the gills of the fish and deflect the head out of the general plane of the table into engagement with the cutters 3. The body of the fish is guided by parallel members 42 and then engaged by fluted grippers 16, the head portion being raised by an inclined plate 15. Rotary horizontal cutters 25 cut a strip from the belly of the fish which afterwards passes over a brush 51 for separating the entrails with the head. The pinchers 5 are normally held open by a spring and are closed by a curved arm 7 as they move down to grip the fish. The head cutters are mounted so as to be adjustable angularly.
