Abstract

560,292. Airfield runways; gratings. IRVING, W. E. July 21, 1942, No. 10193. [Class 107] A sectional trafficbearing grating, for use as an airfield runway &c., is formed of meshed panels, one side and one end strip of each panel carrying slidable metal loops 6, and the other side and end strips carrying similar loops 7 provided with tongues 7b adapted to be engaged with the loops 6 of adjacent panels to secure the panels together. The panels may comprise separate end and side strips 2, 2a, 3, 3a, welded together, or a single strip bent into rectangular form and welded, and equally spaced longitudinal bars 1 welded to the end strips, zig-zag bars 4 being riveted or welded thereto.
