[Class 131] A dry shaver of the kind in which a movable cutter reciprocates behind a fixed comb plate has the comb formed by a sheet metal element arched convexly both laterally and longitudinally provided with hair receiving openings along the comb plate. Fig. 2 shows a shaver in which a cutter blade of the kind described in Specification 485,335, which is reciprocated behind a comb plate by an electric motor carried in the handle, the crank-pin 28 of which engages a fork 103 to oscillate an arm 106, Figs. 2 and 8, in which a spin member blade is carried. The handle carries a shaving head which has a comb unit 39 held by recess 36, 37. This unit comprises a truss comprising three ribs 41, 42, 43, having arched supports 44, 45, 46 held together in relation by tubular rivets 53 with spacing members and secured to the head by bolt 37. The comb plate comprises a thin central shaving plate 62 having closely placed slots 88 retained by wire 69, 71 passing around discs 51 carried by the tubular rivets thicker side members 63, 64 attached to the truss by recess 76 and having clipper teeth 65 fixed at the edges by . U-shaped openings. A casing 31, 32 surrounds the cutter arm to prevent hair reaching the motor, openings 123, 125 being provided to permit discharge of hair. The comb plate may be provided with two or three rows of slots or the slots may be replaced by holes. One or two supports may be used instead of the three shoes and in each case the blade will be slotted to correspond with the number of supports used. Fig. 11 (not shown) shows a form in which the blade is oscillated by a vibratory motor and the comb plate fixed in the parts as shown in Fig. 16, comprising a thin central shaving part 177 provided with slots 185 and a thin open clipping part 175 with teeth 183.
