[Class 29] The outer shell 11 of a domestic cabinet has separate inwardly projecting flanges 17 formed on the front edges, welded together at the corners to provide a rigid frame element forming the sole support of the front of the cabinet, and preferably forming the door opening. The top and two sides of the shell may be in one piece and a separate bottom 14 may be welded in place. Metal bars or strips may be located behind the inclined flanges to increase the stiffness, and the inner and outer shells connected by metal strips and breaker strips as described in Specification 557,295.
