Abstract

558,735. Regulating switches. BRITISH - THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 25, 1943, No. 1240. Convention date, Jan. 28, 1942. [Class 38 (v)] A series of sheathed resistance units 10 are secured between upper and lower clamping plates 26, 27 so that the units extend radially from a centre with a space at their inner ends in which the control means for the rheostat lies. The control comprises a rotating arm 14 adapted to bear on contacts 12 mounted on an insulating plate 11 and connected to the resistance units which consist of wires packed in magnesium oxide. Air can circulate around the units through apertures 35, 36 in the clamping plates. Specification 383,292 is referred to.
