Abstract

557,727. Winches. PLAX CORPORATION. June 9, 1942, No. 7883. Convention date, Jan. 15, [Class 78 (v)] [Also in Groups V and XXXVII] Solid slugs are withdrawn from injection moulds by a winch 168, which is connected to the slugs by a chain 166 and tapered threaded heads embedded in the plastic material. The winch comprises a small sprocket 178 and a large gear 180, both fast on a shaft 176. The gear 180 is turned by means of a small gear 184, the shaft of which receives a crank handle. Ratchets and pawls 186, 188 prevent backsliding. The winch is supported on a horizontal beam 208, along which it may be moved (and then fixed in place) in order to withdraw each of the slugs in turn.
