Abstract
554,628. Moulding inserts in plastic substances. METALASTIC, Ltd., and GOLDSCHMIDT, M. Jan. 6, 1942, No. 223. [Class 87 (ii)] To facilitate positioning of inserts within a mould, detachable bars a are provided, which may be loaded with inserts outside the mould and then placed with their load inside the mould. Metal inserts b having screwed stems c are positioned in holes g in the bars, and two parallel piano wires h grip the stems on either side thereof. The stud d and part of the head of the insert are to be embedded in rubber or other thermosetting or thermoplastic substance. Pegs m on the bars co-operate with recesses in the mould to locate the bars. Two bars may be coupled together at their ends and spaced apart by blocks. The piano wires may be replaced by holding nuts screwed on to the stems c or by U-shaped recesses in the bars. Fig. 7 shows an injection mould having four sets of bar-locating recesses, two of which are occupied.
