Abstract

551,501. Azo dyes. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.). ). Aug. 19..1941, No. 10577. Addition to 546,704. [Class 2 (iii)] (Also in Group XX] The azo dye used in a silver halide red sensitive photographic layer is obtained by coupling diazotized p-aminoacetanilide in acid solution with 1-naphthylamine-2-ethoxy-6- sulphonic acid, and coupling the diazotized product in alkaline solution with 2-(p-aminobenzoylamino)-8-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid, or the blue-green dye obtained by coupling diazotized metanilic acid in acid solution with 1-naphthylamine-7-sulphonic acid, coupling the diazotized product in acid solution with 1-naphthylamine-2-ethoxy-6-sulphonic acid, and coupling the diazotized product in alkaline solution with the product obtained by coupling diazotized metanilic acid in acid solution with 2-amino-5-naphthol-7-sulphonic acid. The green-sensitive layer contains the magenta dye obtained by coupling tetrazotized 4:4<SP>1</SP>-diamino- 3:3<SP>1</SP>:6:6<SP>1</SP>-tetramethyltriphenylmethane in alkaline solution with two mols of 1-heptoylamino- 8-naphthol-3:6-disulphonic acid. The bluesensitive layer contains the yellow dye obtained by coupling tetrazotized 4:4<SP>1</SP>-diaminostilbene- 2:2'-disulphonic acid in alkaline solution with 2 mols of phenol and forming the di-n-propyl ether of the product, or the yellow dye obtained by coupling diazotized 2-(p-aminobenzoylamino)-naphthalene-6:8-disulphonic acid in acid solution with m-phenetidine and treating the product with phosgene to form the urea.
