Abstract

550,638. Tampons &c. JOHNSON & JOHNSON (GT. BRITAIN), Ltd. (Johnson & Johnson). June 2. 1942, No. 7502. [Class 81 (ii)] An improved tampon readily insertable in a body cavity is coated, at the insertion end, with a water soluble wax, preferably that known as carbowax and comprising polyethylene glycols of high molecular weight. The coating assumes an unctuous condition on slight moistening. The tampon may be packed in a tube or applicator 10 provided with an inner ejecting tubular plunger 12 through which extends the withdrawal cord 5 attached to the tampon 1. The outer surface of the tube 10 or the insertion end only may be coated with a thin film 14 of water soluble wax. Specification 394,571 is referred to.
