Abstract

550,214. Clothing for fabric brushing machines. McCARTHY, J. W., and MEE, W. H. April 16, 1942, No. 5070. [Class 120 (iii)] In clothing for use on a roller of a fabric brushing machine comprising a strip of flexible backing material 1, Fig. 1, carrying resilient pins 4 which is spirally wound on the roller, the tip 5 of each pin is offset at right angles to the length of the strip. The tip of each pin is offset at an angle of less than a rightangle relatively to the alignment of the pin, Fig. 2, and transversely relatively to the strip, each pin being inclined forwardly as shown in Fig. 1. The pins are formed of U-shaped members the pins 4, base 3 and tips 5 lying in a common plane. The foundation strip comprises a fabric base 1 and a resilient layer 2 of material such as rubber. A brushing roller is formed by winding the strip spirally on a mandrel 6, Fig. 7, the pins inclining forwardly in the direction of rotation, Fig. 8.
