[Class 44] [Also in Group VII] An adjustable buckle or fastening for straps, bands and the like of the kind comprising two frames hinged together and adapted to lie one upon the other in fastening position comprises a frame 2 (shown in rear view, Fig. 3), preferably rectangular in shape and described as of wire, having upper and lower bars 4, 5 with intermediate inturned projections 3 or a crossbar on which the rolled upper edge 10 of the second frame member 1 is hinged so that the bar 4 to which one strap end 14 is permanently secured lies outside the area of the second frame. The latter is described as of sheet metal and has a cross-bar 6, shown of channel cross-section, co-operating with bar 5 to grip the strap end 15 which is passed through the frame 2 and around cross-bar 6 as shown. This grip is increased by tension in the straps 14, 15. The frame member 1 has a finger-piece extension 13, or, in a modification, carries a tab, to facilitate lifting of the frame to release the strap, and the sides of the frame may be turned down to form side-flanges 9 embracing the sides of the frame 2.
