Abstract

549,480. Wireless receiving systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd,. BLIGH, N. R., HELLER, D. M., and STENNING, L. C. Oct. 6, 1941,No. 12911. [Class 40 (y)] A receiver adapted for use on a police car has a loudspeaker 1 which is normally muted by having connected in series with it a filter 3 tuned to a narrow band of audio frequency. On receipt of a calling signal of this frequency part of the output of the filter is rectified at 4 and operates relay A to close its hold on circuit at a1 and to short circuit the filter at a2 to unmute the receiver. The receiver remains unmuted until the operator momentarily opens contacts 6. Momentary closure of contacts 7 serves to unmute the receiver at any time, while opening contacts 8 prevents operation of relay A and so allows reception of a morse signal on the audio frequency band passed by the filter.
