[Class 98 (i)] An X-ray apparatus comprises a housing for the tube and ancillary high-tension equipment which is supported between spaced vertical posts rising from a turntable on a wheeled carriage, the housing being so supported that it can be adjusted about a horizontal axis and also slid vertically on the posts. In the apparatus shown a carriage or platform 1 runs on wheels 5, the axle 3 of at least one pair of which is driven by a motor (not shown). A turntable 8 mounted on the carriage is provided with a depending flange 9 around which passes a driving belt through which a second motor operates the turntable. Vertical columns 14 mounted on the turntable carry blocks 15 which are simultaneously adjusted in height by the rotation of screwed rods 18 passing through them, the rods being rotated by a third motor 23 through bevel gears 20, 21. The holder 17 for the tube and high-tension equipment is mounted by trunnions 16 in the blocks 15, and is angularly adjusted about the axis of the trunnions by a handwheel 25 operating through a gearbox 24. The holder 17 is oil-filled, and may be connected to an expansion chamber formed by a hollow stretcher member extending between the upper ends of the columns 14.
