Abstract

547,311. Coating wires. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. June 13, 1941, No. 7508. Convention-date, June 15, 1940. [Class 140] Apparatus for coating wires with enamel &c. comprises a driven coating roller 7 mounted on a shaft 9 so as to close an opening in the wall of a container 12 and grooved at 8 to engage vertically moving wires 1 which are coated by the enamel &c. 13 picked up by the grooves in the roller, the container 12 being movable about the shaft 9 into the dotted line position when the machine is not working such that the edge of the container moves the wires 1 out of contact with the roller and any enamel &c. dripping from the dies 4 which even out the coating may fall back into the container. The latter is fitted with a supply pipe 14, overflow pipe 15 leading to filter pump &c. and a doctor blade 16 having. fingers 17 extending into the grooves 8. Specification 509,193 is referred to.
