[Class 138 (ii)] A fabric pressing, heating, and drying machine has an upper buck having a preliminary swinging approach toward the lower buck and a final parallel approach thereto. The upper buck M is carried by arms 78 pivoted. on stud shafts 3 to sleeves 85 slidable up and down stationary pillars 77. The sleeves 85 have their motion imparted to them by a connecting rod 92 coupled to a double-sided lever 97 pivoted at 96 and each arm of which carries a roller 99 engaging a cam groove 101, one 'on each face of a disc 98 driven through belting 16 and worm gearing 32, 33 from a motor 12. The worm shaft 18 carries a band brake 60, 61 and a clutch 30, 31, controlled respectively by external manual control bars 73 and 35. The swinging movement is imparted to the upper buck M at the outer end of its rise by a tail piece 80 thereon coming against roller stops 84 on the brackets 75 which support'the pillars 77. Bottom stops 82 ensure lowering of the buck M to horizontal position prior to its final parallel downward movement. An air compresser Z operated by a belt 20 from the shaft 18 fills a reservoir 23 for leading air by way of a pipe 145 past a manually and camcontrolled valve 146 to the interior of each buck M, S. Steam led through ducts 26, 27 heats the reservoir 23 by coils 25 and also heats a chamber 107 on each buck and can be led into the interior of each buck, by way of a manually and cam-controlled valve 131. The buck pad may be built up of an inner perforated metal plate and an outer fine mesh wire screen, with or without a cloth external covering. Alternatively an inner layer of padding has a covering of porous latex plus the wire screen and external cloth. A further form has only a porous latex pad furnished on its outer surface with fine wire bristles.
