[Class 90] [Also in Group XII] A steam-iron plant for producing hydrogen is combined with a plant for producing carburetted water gas in such a way that the blue water-gas made in the down-run or back-run period (which is less suitable for carburation) is used for reducing the iron oxide mass, and the up-run gas is carburetted and used for the usual purpose. The changeover may be effected by automatically operated valves.
