Abstract

544,787. Master control of motors. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Nov. 18, 1940, No. 16618. Convention date, Nov. 18, 1939. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (iii)] A motor is accelerated by sequentially operated contactors, the time interval between the closures of which is reduced if the motor fails to start. Movement of a master switch to an " on " position energises the operating coils of the contactors, and as each closes, interlocks thereon open the circuit of a restraining coil on the next contactor, this coil normally, discharges slowly through a resistor and a capacitor. If the motor has failed to start, a voltage responsive relay across the armature fails to operate and leaves another resistor connected across the next restraining coil so as to discharge it quickly and so allow the next contactor to close quickly. This method of control when applied to a motor driving a wire-drawing machine reduces the time of threading the wire stage by stage.
