[Class 118 (i)] [Also in Group XXI] An electric conductor which is adapted to be stretched across a space and the breakage of which causes a signal or alarm to be operated, the breakage being caused by an agency such as bombs or debris, entry of a trespasser, or fusing due to excessive heat such as from an outbreak of fire comprises a fine frangible wire having associated therewith an inextensible yarn filament so that when the conductor is stretched or subjected to tension the fine wire is free from tensile strain. As shown the yarn thread 1 has the fine wire 2 helically wound thereon. The wire 2 may be of copper or of lead alloy and may, together with the yarn thread coated with shellac, rubber &c.
