Abstract
543,423. Springs combined with linkwork. TAYLOR, J. L., and AITON & CO., Ltd. May 14, 1940, No. 8617. [Class 108 (iii)] A single blade or multileaf spring subjected to end thrust is combined with a lever to give a constant supporting force in all positions. A length of piping 27 the position of which may change with variations of temperature &c. is supported by a cable 24 led to one end of a lever 16 pivoted at 17 so that the lever exerts end thrust on a bowed spring 14 pivoted at 15. The supporting rod or cable may be connected to one of a number of points on one arm of a bell-crank lever, the other arm of which engages the end of the spring, whereby the force exerted is changed in direction. The spring may be arranged vertically.
