Abstract

543,198. Dyeing textiles &c. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E.I. Aug. 12, 1940, No. 12876. Convention date, Aug. 12, 1939. [Class 15 (ii)] Fibres, filaments, yarns, fabrics, films, sheets, and other articles made of, or containing, synthetic linear polyamides, obtained as described in Specifications 461,236, 461,237, or 495,790, are dyed by (a) after-coppering or after-chroming the dyeings obtained by the application thereto of mono- or dis-azo dyes capable of being coppered or chromed or (b) applying thereto the pre-formed water-soluble copper or chromium complexes of such mono- or dis-azo dyes. Specified monoazo dyes suitable for after-coppering or after-chroming are azosalicylic acid, 4-nitroaniline or sulphanilic acid # salicylic acid, 4-nitro-2-aminophenol or picramic acid# 1:3-diaminobenzenesulphonic acid, picramic acid# 1:3-diaminobenzene, 1:2:4-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid# 1- phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone or 1- or 2- naphthol, 1:4-naphthylaminesulphonic acid# 1:4- or 1:5-naphtholsulphonic acid, picramic acid # (alkaline) 1:8:3:6-aminonaphtholdisulphonic acid, 2-aminophenol-4-sulphonic acid# 2-naphthol or 1:5-dihydroxynaphthalene, 4- chloro-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid# 1:5- dihydroxynaphthalene, picramic acid# 1:5- or 2:6-naphtholsulphonic acid, nitro-1:2:4-aminonaphthol sulphonic acid# 1-naphthol, anthranilic acid# (alkaline) N-phenyl-2:8:6-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid or the 4<SP>1</SP>-sulpho- or 2<SP>1</SP>- chloro-5<SP>1</SP>-sulpho-derivative of 1-phenyl-3- methyl-5-pyrazolone and 3:4:6-trichloro-2- aminophenol# (alkaline) N-acetyl-1:8:4-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid. Specified disazo dyes suitable for after-coppering or after-chroming are 4:4<SP>1</SP>-diaminodiphenyl sulphide or 4:4<SP>1</SP>- diaminostilbenedisulphonic acid <SP>#</SP># salicylic acid (2 mols.), 4-nitro-2-aminophenol# 1:3- diaminobenzene #1:5 - naphthylaminesulphonic acid, 2-aminophenol# 2:4-diaminotoluene or resorcinol #1:5 - naphthylamine sulphonic acid, 4-nitroaniline# salicylic acid #1:5- naphthylaminesulphonic acid, 1:4-naphtholsulphonic acid #nitrobenzidine# salicylic acid and aminosalicylic acid# 1-naphthylamine# 1:5-naphtholsulphonic acid. Specified copper complexes of monoazo dyes are, in addition to those of some of the above monoazo dyes, those of the dyes, anthranilic acid# 1:4- naphtholsulphonic acid or (alkaline) 2:5:7- aminonaphtholsulphonic acid or its N-phenylderivative, 2-aminophenol or its 4- or 5- nitro or 4-chloro-derivative or anthranilic acid# resorcinol, 5-nitro-2-aminophenol# 1-(4<SP>1</SP>- sulphophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5 - pyrazolone and 4-nitro-2-aminophenol# 1:5-naphtholsulphonic acid, 1:8:4 - aminonaphtholsulphonic acid or 2:5:7-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid or its N-phenyl-derivative. Specified copper complexes of disazo dyes are those of the dyes, anthranilic acid (2 mols.)<SP>#</SP># di-(5.-hydroxy-7- sulpho-2-naphthyl) urea, 2-aminophenol (2 mols.)<SP>#</SP># di-(5-hydroxy-7-sulpho-2-naphthyl) amine and 4-amino-41-nitrodiphenylamine-21- sulphonic acidresorcinol #2-aminophenol. Specified chromium complexes are those of the monoazo dyes, 1:2:4-aminonaphtholsulphonic acid or its nitro derivative# 1- or 2-naphthol. 1:2:4 - aminonaphtholsulphonic acid# 1:8- naphtholsulphonic acid or 1-(41-sulphophenyl)- 3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 4-chloro-2-aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid# 1:8-naphtholsulphonic acid, 2:4-dihydroxyquinoline or 1- phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, 4-nitro-2- aminophenol-6-sulphonic acid#1-phenyl-3- methyl-5-pyrazolone or acetoacetanilide, anthranilic acid or its 5-sulpho-derivative # 1- (4<SP>1</SP> - sulphophenyl) - 3 - methyl - 5-pyrazolone and 4-chloroaniline - 3 - sulphonic acid# salicylic acid. Examples are also given of the dyeing of polyhexamethylene adipamide fibre by processes (a) and (b) above.
