541,256. Making pipes. STRATTON, J. July 5, 1940, No. 11277. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Angular bending; extruding; dierolling.-Extruded pipes are so marked during manufacture that the pipe is not materially weakened and the marking is protected during handling &c. by embossing the marking, preferably in sunk characters, in a shallow groove formed between raised ribs e, f, Fig. 2. Beyond the embossing roller the pipe passes directly through a roll pair that close in the flanges over the groove as shown in Fig. 3. The depressed characters may be filled with a resinous or other compound.
