Abstract

540,895. Rafts. FLEMING, I. R., FLEMING, F. E., and MOFFAT, R. P. May 3, 1940, No. 7941. [Class 113 (i)] A reversible raft is made polygonal in shape and has an interior well also polygonal, the corners of the latter being located on the sides of the raft and so stiffening the structure. In the example shown the corners of the square shaped well 14 bisect the sides 16 of the raft the spaces between the corner of the raft and the sides of the well being filled with buoyant material. The well is provided with a floor 20. In a modification the sides of the raft are provided with triangular extensions.
