Abstract

537,744. Thiazolinylsulphide derivatives ; vulcanization accelerators. BAIRD, W., FOWKES, F. S., NETTLESHIP, G. E., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 3, 1940, No.' 173. [Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Group V] Products stated to be useful as vulcanization accelerators are prepared by combining 2- mercaptothiazoline, formaldehyde and a primary or secondary amine containing not more than 12 carbon atoms. A hydroxy, methoxy or ethoxy group may be present in the amine. In examples, 2-mercaptothiazoline and formaldehyde are reacted with aniline to give anilinomethylthiazolinyl sulphide, with cyclohexylamine to give cyclohexylaminomethyl-2- thiazolinylsulphide, with p-n-butylaniline to give p-n-butylanilinomethyl-2-thiazolinylsulphide, with monoethanolamine to give #- hydroxyethylaminomethyl - 2 - thiazolinylsulphide and with hexamethyleneimine to give hexamethyleneiminomethyl - 2 - thiazolinesulphide. In further examples, the products are used as vulcanization accelerators in mixtures of smoked rubber sheet, zinc oxide, channel black (or blanc fixe), stearic acid and sulphur.
