Abstract
533,971. Thermal switches; switches partly electromagnetic. SCHILLER, P. Sept. 11, 1939, Nos. 25541 and 26525. Addition to 526,881. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] A switch for the control of maximum supply demand by remote control of the consumer's branch circuits comprises a compensated bimetal strip 37 having at its free end a number of pins or coil springs 36 each acting on microgap switches of the double-spring, over-centre type, one switch for each branch. The bi-metallic strip is heated by a coil 44 carrying the entire load current and. for setting purposes, additionally by a shunt coil 45 in series with a variable resistance 46 which is under remote control from the generating station. In a modification (Fig. 1, not shown) a multiple-contact switch controlling the branches is allowed to close under spring action by the expansion of a wire coiled over rollers, snap closure being imparted by a permanent or electromagnet and armature, the energization of the wire being controlled by a remote switch.
