[Class 36] An insulator carrying an overhead wire through a cross-arm has an end-to-end base into which the wire is brought by way of a skewed or spiral end-to-end slot. Fig. 1 shows a wooden cross-arm 16' carrying four glass insulators 15. Fig. 2 shows a single insulator 15 provided with a spiral slot extending through the cross-arm 16 and 23, end-shields 20, 21, and a spring clip 34 which retains the insulator in the cross-arm.
