533,237. Shutters. MARSDEN, C. H., and BELFIELD, R. A. Oct. 20, 1939, No. 28317. [Class 20 (iii)] A shutter for the glazing of buildings, comprises a plurality of plain or corrugated rigid flat sheets 3 all arranged in approximately the same plane side-by-side in overlapped relation and each pivotally mounted about its central longitudinal axis 5 in a common shutter frame structure, the pivots at one. end of all the shutter elements projecting beyond their bearings in the shutter frame and having fitted thereon operating levers or arms all connected to a common actuating member, e.g. wire 10, whereby the shutter elements can be turned about their pivotal mountings collectively from the overlapped or closed position to an open position in which the elements lie in spaced parallel planes, and vice versa. The frame structure comprises a box-like member on the outside of the window, the edges of the box having flange sections 7 while the sheets 3 have complementary flashing sheets to render the device light proof when the sheets 3 are in closed position.
