529,243. Aircraft-launching ways &c. BONSTOW, T. L., and MARGOLIS, A. E. April 14, 1939, No. 11376. [Class 4] [Also in Group The launching and landing of aircraft are facilitated by the production of upward air currents from the runway. Underground reservoirs 1, 2, 3 of compressed air are provided with discharge channels 4 leading to tunnels 5, 6 covered by gratings 8. The channels are closed by pivoted flaps controlled by pivoted catches and are provided with counterbalanced obstructions which regulate the discharge. The currents may be produced by explosive charges ; they may be also produced by a fan and heated to disperse fogs.
