528,747. Electric control and signalling systems. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd. May 2, 1939, No. 13057. Convention date, Aug. 3, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 40 (i)] In a centralized control and supervision system for apparatus located at a plurality of remote points and particularly for railway signals and points at different stations along a track, control and supervision are effected over a single line circuit by time-coded impulses generated by relays. Means are provided for storing codes for subsequent transmission as long as the line wire is in use and for maintaining an established direction of transmission to or from the central office as long as there are codes stored for transmission in that direction, the stored codes being transmitted in a group in a given order of code superiority. Transmission of any code which becomes stored after the transmission of a group of codes has been initiated is prevented until all codes of the group have been delivered. Normally the line wire is energized by positive current, but code sending from any station is effected by long and short impulses of reverse polarity. The operation of the system is similar to that of the system described in Specification 528,745, except that for effecting a station selection and the control of apparatus thereat chains of relays at the station are firstly operated until a particular station is selected and then the chain at the selected station is released and reoperated to effect the desired operations.
