Abstract

528,347. Cleaning and degreasing tins &c. HUNTLEY & PALMERS, Ltd., and RABONE, H. M. May 4, 1939, No. 13371. [Class 138 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] Tins 15 are held by supports 21 in a bath 1 containing a mildly alkaline solution, for example, of disodium hydrogen phosphate together with casein, and electric current is passed between anode plate 12a, 12b, 12c, and bars 18 on which the supports 21 rest. Labels &c. detached from the tins fall on to a slat or wire-mesh conveyer 33 and are removed from the bath. The tins fed by gravity to a roller conveyer 45 are attached by hand to the supports 21 which are fitted with means to grip the opposite diagonal edges of the tins. After treatment, the tins are removed by hand and placed on an upper moving conveyer 46. Alternatively the supports 21 for the tins are suspended on a conveyer chain insulated from the bath so as to serve as a current supply lead.
