Abstract

528,265. Rotary conveyers ; transferring from one conveyer to another. BALL BROS. CO. May 2, 1939, No. 13067. Convention date, May 5, 1938. [Class 78 (i)] A machine for transferring glass articles from a continuously moving forming machine to other conveyers leading to a lehr comprises a plurality of composite ringed arms radiating from a common vertical rotating support and each carrying an article receiving member which is caused to accelerate and tilt to receive the article from the forming machine and to decelerate in transferring the article along a guide to a receiving conveyer or a lehr. Each article receiving member 31 is hinged to an arm 35 mounted by a vertical pivot on an arm 34 connected by a horizontal pivot 40 and plate 33 to a disc 23 which is secured to a sleeve 21 mounted on a fixed standard 6 and driven from a shaft 25 through bevel gear 26, 27 and spur gear 29, 30 so as to bring the members 31 successively into position to take an article from the opened finishing mould 65 of the forming machine. As the member 31 approaches this position its carrying arm 35 is pivoted on its vertical pivot by a cam 62, and as it recedes after receiving an article it is tilted by a link 57 actuated by a plunger 36 from a cam 56 whereby the article is sent over and deposited on a guide 68 which delivers to a conveyer 69 from which it may be directed by guides 68a, 68<SP>11</SP> to a rotary table 75 and a further conveyer 76. The composite arm is supported by a cam 42 during the transfer beyond which the cam falls away at 42a and allows the arm to turn down about its pivot 40 until raised again by the ascending cam part 42c preparatory to taking another article.. Adjustment is provided by mounting the standard 6 on a base plate 7 which is adjustable by a rack and pinion 18, 17 on a sub-base 8 which is vertically adjustable by screws 8 collectively operated by a chain 13, and sprockets 12 from a hand-wheel 14 connected with one of the screws.
