Abstract

527,889. Soot blower motor control systems. HOPKINSONS, Ltd., BROWN, R. L., and DALE, W. B. April 22, 1939. No. 12181. [Class 99 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A control unit for the soot blower plant of a steam generator comprises a cubicle which houses the electrical gear for use in the automatic operation of the soot blowers in proper sequence and which has a front panel with a diagrammatic representation of the boiler plant, the control stations for the blower heads being located on the panel as close as possible to the points actually occupied by the blowers in the boiler plant as diagrammatically represented. The control stations which are numbered from 1-45 in order of operation each comprise an automatic indicating lamp which remains lit whilst the blower is in action and a press button x for independent actuation of the blower. A warning horn d is actuated if any blower remains in action for longer than the predetermined period. The sequence switches e, f are located beneath the panel and have handwheels h for controlling the starting point of a sequential operation.
