Abstract

527,879. Rotary-table moulding-machines. PARFITT, A. W. (Lauterbach Corporation). April 22, 1939, No. 12149. [Class 87 (ii)] In a rotary moulding-machine comprising co-operating dies 22 and plungers 24 mounted in flanges 16, 15 of a rotary drum 14 so as to move through charging, forming and discharging positions, a brush 52 is arranged between the discharge and charging positions and projects between the flanges 15, 16 for cleaning the plungers 24, and compressed air is intermittently and synchronously blown from a pipe 54 into the dies 22 to dislodge material therefrom. The dies 22 are mounted on supports 18 carried by piston-rods 19 of hydraulic cylinders 20 mounted in a rotary table 21. The supports 18 are guided by rods 28 which strike a lever 62 as they move round and so operate a valve 60 controlling the supply of compressed air to the pipe 54. The plungers 24 may be adapted for forming screw-threaded bottle caps which are removed therefrom by a rotary disc 25 and fall down a shoot 30. Ejection of the articles is assisted bv compressed air from holes 42 in a pipe 38 which lies across the top of the shoot. The pipe 38 is also provided with upwardlydirected holes 44 for blowing air to clean the plungers 24 and the end 43 of the pipe projects downwardly to blow air into the dies 22. A suction head is mounted adjacent the shoot to collect dislodged material. The brush 52 is mounted in a resilient holder 50 adjustably clamped on an outer casing 12. The brush may project upwardly to engage the plungers and it may be fixed on the shoot 30.
