Abstract
526,128. Removing stalks from fruit. VIG, NOLO, G. March 8, 1939, No. 7564. Convention date, March 8, 1938. [Class 28 (ii)] In a machine for removing stalks from fruit &c. by means of pairs of oppositely-rotating rollers, a third roller of substantially the same diameter co-operates with one of the two oppositely-rotating rollers by means of a belt, and is so positioned as to allow the intermediate portion of the belt to engage the surface of the other roller and so assist in the removal of the stalk from the fruit. The machine comprises alternately arranged rollers a, b rotatable in opposite directions and inclined along their lengths, so that the fruit gravitates, from the feed side of the machine to the discharge side. The rollers a, b are connected by gearing f and are driven by a motor d through a belt e. The rollers a are associated with belts g which are tensioned by rollers c, the stalks being gripped between the rollers and the belts. A conveyer i receives the stalkless fruit and discharges it into a receptacle m. The stalks are received on a conveyer o and are discharged into a receptacle n. The conveyer i may be dispensed with, the fruit being discharged from the rollers a, b into a collecting box disposed along the ends of the rollers.
